Chapter 9
Mandy woke up the following morning and smiled when she saw hr husband laying next to her. He was sprawled out on the bed, with one leg over the duvet and one arm around her waist. She could honestly not remember the last time she opened her eyes and saw him next to her. She almost laughed when she saw the state of his blonde matted mess on his head. She thought back to the magical night she had experienced. He was so full of love and put so much emotion into their love making. Her smile faded when she remembered the kiss she had shared with Brian that very same night. Guilt ate at her again. She could not stop thinking about it. She could have stopped it from happening, yet she didn’t. She just kissed him with such passion, as if her life depended on that kiss. She sighed and got closer to Nicky, kissing him lightly on his dry lips. He licked his lips in his sleep and stirred slightly, gradually opening his eyes.“Morning!” he croaked, stretching in bed.Mandy smiled and placed an arm around him. He was still quite sleepy and in a confused state, as he stared at her.“It’s ok babe. This is just one of those rare occasions where we wake up together!” she joked. He smiled at her and kissed her lips lightly.“I miss this!” he whispered, rubbing his hands up and down her bare back.“Mmm, me too!” she smiled, snuggling up against him, “Which is why I just wanna treasure this moment!”Nicky smiled, “So…what do you wanna do today?”Mandy smiled and started climbing over him, “Well, Mr Nicky Byrne,” she grinned, getting comfortable on top of him, “I just want to keep you hostage in my bedroom and have my wicked way with you all day!”He smiled and writhed under her body, “What if I get hungry?”“Well, my dear, I’ll bring some food up and we’ll have a nice meal in bed!” she raised her eyebrows suggestively, making Nicky’s grin get bigger.“Wow! Looks like you have it all planned out!” he smiled against her lips, wrapping his arms around her frame.“You’ve certainly got that right, Mr Byrne!” she grinned, biting on his lower lip, “Think you’re up to it?”“You bet I am!” he smirked naughtily, “But first I must ring the office to…”Mandy stopped him from reaching from the phone, “Uh uh uh uuuuuuh! No phone today. It is off bounds!”“Well, what if someone rings?” he asked cleverly.Mandy reached down and unplugged the phone from the wall, giving it one good tug.“Ok, good plan. But what if the office rings and it’s important?” he further questioned, looking worried.“Well, then they’re gonna have to either use their initiative and deal with it, or they can call someone else to sort it. But today. Nicky Byrne, you’re all mine. I do not want to hear the words phone or office. Today it is all about you and me!” she growled seductively. They both lay there, panting in each other’s arms before Mandy turned around to face him.“I love you so much, you know that?” she smiled.Nicky smiled and gave her a quick kiss on the lips, “I know. I love you too!”They stayed there, enjoying the peace and quiet for a bit, both deep in their own thoughts before Mandy looked at him again.“Are you hungry?” she asked.“Quite a bit. Yeah!” he grinned.Mandy laughed, “That work out gave you a bit of an appetite then!”“You could say that!” he laughed.“Very well. I am just going to have a shower and then I’ll get lunch ready. How does a nice big fry up sound?” she smiled, grabbing her robe and putting it around herself.“Sounds good babe!” he smiled, “But I wanted to have a shower!” he pouted.“You know? There’s enough room in that shower for 2!” she winked, “How about it?”Nicky grinned big, kicked the covers off him and followed her to the bathroom. After another session of love making, Mandy got dressed and went straight to the kitchen, while Nicky watched telly. As she set about making lunch, she heard the phone vibrating on the worktop. She looked at it and sighed. Hesitantly, she picked it up and read the message. Please don’t ignore me. We need to talk. Luv B xxxShe sighed and deleted the message straight away. She put it back on the counter and went to get the sausages from the fridge. She had just put the oil in the frying pan when she heard the phone again. This time it was not a message. It was a call. She didn’t know what to do. She walked towards it and looked at the screen, which said ‘Brian Calling’ She sighed loudly and hovered her finger over the reply button, not sure if she should press it. To her relief it stopped ringing, only to start again a second later. She sighed and finally pressed the button.“What?” she huffed as she answered it.“Why don’t you answer my texts?” he asked.“I can’t!” she sighed.“Mandy. We seriously need to talk babe” he sighed.“I have nothing to say to you!” she answered coldly.“OH, but you had plenty of tongue wagging to do last night!” he snapped.“That shouldn’t have happened!” she hissed down the phone.“perhaps not, but it did, and you’re gonna have to face it! Perhaps I could let it go if it was me who initiated the kiss, Mandz, but it wasn’t, was it? It was you!” he growled.“No it was not!” she answered angrily, “You kissed me first!”“Maybe I did, but you stopped it immediately and I was fine with it. But then you kissed me again!” he argued, “You. I didn’t even argue that the kiss should have happened. I accepted it. Obviously you didn’t coz you came back for more!”“I don’t wanna talk about it Brian. Goodbye!” she hissed.“Can’t face up to it huh?” he smirked, “Can’t admit it to yourself, can you?”“Goodbye Brian!” she huffed, quickly ending the call.“I thought phones were off bounds today?”Mandy jumped and turned around quickly, blushing.“Nicky!” she gasped.“Who was that?” he asked, nudging his head towards the phone as he walked to the fridge to get himself a beer.“Oh noone really! She shrugged with a smile, “Just a wrong number!”God she hoped he had not heard that conversation, or else she would have to come clean about everything. The smile on his face told her he hadn’t. She relaxed slightly, picked up the phone and switched it off, “No more calls!” she smiled. She turned around with the most guilty look on her face ever and got back to the sausages in the pan as Nicky walked away. She sighed with relief and hang her head down, “That was a really close call!” she sighed.
