the wrong kind of love #4

Chapter 4
Mandy woke up the following morning to some noise coming from the kitchen. She looked to her side. Nicky wasn’t there but the bed had been slept in. She rubbed her eyes, got up and made her way downstairs. She walked into the kitchen and saw Nicky. He seemed to be looking for something in the fridge. She stayed there and admired the view of her husband standing there with nothing more than his boxer shorts to cover his modesty. He was bent down with his head in the fridge. She grinned at his sexiness. She bit her lip and let out a smirk, “Looking for something?” she finally asked.Nicky lifted his head and banged it against the roof of the fridge, “Fuck!” he cursed, as he moved his head out and looked back at her. He winced and rubbed his head. Mandy tilted her head and pouted at him.“Didn’t you say you made dinner last night? I thought I’d just take it to work today for my lunch!” he sighed, still rubbing the top of his head.Mandy looked away with guilt written all over her face. She remembered how angry she felt last night and how she had chucked the left overs in the bin.“Oh!” she simply answered.“Oh? What do you mean, oh? Where is it?” he laughed.“I am so sorry Nicky. I threw it away!” she mumbled, slowly walking towards the fridge.“You what?” he shrieked, looking at the bin.“I’m sorry babe. I just got so angry after you didn’t make it home last night.” She sighed.“You threw my dinner away coz I was working?” he shrieked louder.Mandy sighed, “I just…I never see you anymore, Nicky!” she whined, “I went through all that trouble for nothing. I made such an effort. I set the table up. it looked beautiful with the new candles and everything. And I also got us some nice wine to go with the dinner. And not the cheap one either. I also got a dvd to watch for after dinner. And you didn’t even turn up. not only that but you also didn’t even bother calling to let me know.” She ranted, not feeling so guilty anymore.Nicky just looked at her in shock, “But I had to work late! You know what my job is like, Mandy. It is hard going!”“Yeah well, I am sick of being at home alone night after night. It feels like I haven't got a husband anymore.” She shouted.Nicky looked at her through his pain filled eyes, “I cannot believe you have just said that!” he gasped.“Well, I am sorry but it is how I feel! I hardly ever see you anymore. You go to work mega early and come back at stupid o’clock. What kind of marriage is that?” she shrieked.“It puts food on our table, doesn’t it? I don’t see you complaining when you go out and buy yourself all those extravagant clothes!” he shouted.Mandy stared at him. She wanted to ask him if he was having an affair, but he looked so angry she decided not to. She just sighed.“No, I thought not!” he muttered walking away.“Where are you going?” she screamed.“To get ready for work! Thanks to you, I have to stop somewhere and buy myself some lunch, so that means I have to leave earlier. Cheers Mandz!” he snapped, storming off upstairs and slamming the door shut in a temper. Mandy sighed and sat on the chair.“Shit!” she cursed herself, “Shit shit shit!”Guilt was eating her. She slowly walked upstairs into her bedroom and looked at Nicky who was arranging his cuffs, He looked at her briefly and then looked back at his cuffs as he put them on.“I am sorry ok?” she sighed.Nicky just shrugged, “Whatever!”“Nicky, please!” she whined.“We’ll discuss it later!” he shrugged again.“So you’re going to leave with an argument hanging over your shoulders, are you?” she confronted.“I don’t have the time for this now. I have to go and get myself some lunch!” he smirked, walking around the room, looking for his tie. Mandy grabbed it from the chair and handed it to him. He grabbed it from her and put it around his neck, not fastening it.“Don’t you just get how lonely I feel? I know noone around here, so it’s not like I can go to my mates. You’re at work all day and all night. I have noone to talk to. It feels like I am going crazy, Nicky. It’s so frustrating!” she complained.“I’ll get you a dog!” he shrugged, now fastening his tie in front of the mirror.“It’s not funny, Nicky!” she sighed.“I am not trying to be funny!” he sighed back.“For God’s sake, Nicky, be serious, will you?” she screamed.Nicky took his tie off angrily and threw it on the bed, “Well, what the fuck do you want me to say huh? That I’ll leave my job and stay here every night? Oh don’t worry darling. We’ll find a house and pay the mortgage. We’ll just beg on the streets for money!”“Now you are just being stupid!” she moaned, sitting on the bed.“Then what is it you want, Mandy? What do you want from me?” he screamed.“I want you to stop putting your job before your marriage, that’s what I want!” she shouted back, “To keep your wife company and stop taking her for granted!”“I don’t take you for granted!” he moaned.“Not much!” she sighed sarcastically.“Look, just go to your mates or something!” he shruggedMandy stared at him, “What mates? I haven’t got any fucking mates! They are all in London!!!”“Well, go and find some them!” he answered unsympathetically.Mandy just stared at him, not believing how unreasonable he was being.“You say you are lonely here on your own at night! Go out to a club or something, I am sure you will meet people there!” he sighed.“I already did last night. And yes, I did meet someone!” she smirked, thinking he would get intimidated if he knew about Brian.“Then what the fuck are you complaining about?” he moaned, putting his shoes on.Mandy stared at him.“Call her up and meet up with her or something!” he added.“For your information, it is not a her. It’s a him!” she smirked even more. Nicky quickly looked at her, “You met a guy?”Mandy nodded, “Problem?”“So now you go out at night on the pull, do you?” he growled.“No., Nicky! I do not go out on the pull. I go out desperate for someone to talk to me. I met up with an old mate. Name’s Brian!” she sighed.Nicky looked at her blankly, “Oh!”“Yes. We used to date at one point!” she smirked, knowing he wouldn’t like that either.“Date him!” he checked.Mandy smiled and nodded, “Problem?” she questioned with her hands on her hips.Nicky rolled his eyes, knowing she was trying to get a rise out of him, and stopping it from happening.“Well?” she asked.Nicky sighed and looked at her, “I am not too comfortable with you meeting up with an old boyfriend!” he mumbled.“OH relax Nicky!” she muttered, “He is not an ex boyfriend. I only dated him for a week before he went on to someone else. We were only 16!”She knew she was getting at him, and somehow, she hoped this revelation would bring him back to his senses and pay more attention to her.“Still not happy about it!” he muttered, getting increasingly annoyed with his tie. Mandy walked to him and stood opposite him.“He is just a mate, Nicky!” she sighed as she fastened it for him. He looked at her with his head lifted up so she could put his tie on.“Whatever. We’ll discuss it later!” he snapped, now walking around to get his brief case.“Oh so you’ll be back at a decent hour then?” she grinned triumphantly.“Who knows!” he shrugged.“Nicky!” she sighed.“Look, I am already late for work, ok? Discussion is now over!” he cut her off, kissing her lips quickly and running off.“What time will you be back?” she shouted after him.“When I am finished is when I shall be back!” he shouted back, getting into his car and speeding off. Mandy slammed the front door angrily and walked back inside.“This is not gonna go on for much longer, I can guarantee him that!” she muttered to herself.
