When Brian woke up in the morning, he found himself alone in bed. Thinking Mandy was in the shower, after hearing the water running, he smiled to himself thinking about the night he had, and stretched out in bed. He looked at the time and sighed. It was time to get up and dressed for work. As he walked past the bedroom, he door to the bathroom opened. His hair was a knotted mess and he stretched up tall, scratching his head. Brian smiled and looked but his face changed when he saw Kian walking out. He saw Brian standing there and grinned.
“Hey. Hot night last night huh?” he teased, poking his fingers in Brian’s stomach. Brian quickly took a step back.
“Kian! What are you doing in there?” he shrieked.
“Erm, having a shower! Why?” he asked confused, wiping the towel over his face.
Brian sighed, “I thought it was Mandy in there!” he shrugged.
“Mandy? Nah, I saw her leaving early this morning!” he shrugged.
“Leaving? She left?” he shrieked.
Kian nodded, “Yeah, I just about saw her walking out the front door. I figured she had an early start at work or something!”
“I cannot believe this. She’s done it again!!! I knew I shouldn’t have listened to her!” he muttered, punching the wall.
“Huh?” asked Kian confused.
Brian sighed and shook his head, “Nothing. Nevermind!”
“So answer me, quite a raunchy night last night was it?” he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively with a grin.
Brian sighed and looked at him as he walked past him, “Not now eh Kian?”
Kian pulled a face and walked away as Brian walked into the bathroom to shower and brush his teeth. When he was done, he went to his bedroom, and got dressed in his black dressy trousers, black shirt and white tie, and then he left. He grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl for breakfast before heading off. He wanted to catch up with Mandy before work started. He arrived and parked the car in his space. Then he legged it inside the building, cursing the lift when it took ages. When he got to his floor,. He walked to the main office, frantically looking for Mandy. He stopped when he saw her coming out of the kitchen and walking to her desk. He slowed down his pace and walked towards her, looking at her all the time. She was aware that he was thee, but she did not want to look at him.
“What’s going on?” he asked, placing a hand on her desk.
“What do you mean?” she asked without giving him a glance.
“You know what I mean. We need to talk!” he sighed, grabbing her wrist.
“Let go of me!” she struggled, freeing her wrist.
“Well, let’s talk then!” he smirked.
“Fine!” she muttered, looking up at him.
“Not here!” he grumbled.
“Morning guys!” chirped Sam, walking in, “How are we this morning?”
“Morning!” mumbled Brian and then looked at Mandy again as he folded his arms.
Mandy looked at Sam and smiled. Sam noticed the tension between then and walked away from them quite quickly.
“Come to the kitchen!” growled Brian in her ear, and stormed off.
Mandy stayed there for a bit, watching him leave. She sighed softly to herself. He didn’t look too happy and she couldn’t blame him. It wasn’t the first time she had disappeared on him. She frowned and got up, following him to the kitchen. She closed the door behind her and sat on the chair, still not looking at him.
“Why did you leave this morning?” he asked, leaning over the table, propping himself up with both arms.
Mandy just shrugged.
“I do want an actual answer Mandy!” he sighed.
“I don’t know, ok?” she moaned, getting up, “I should never have let last night happen!”
Brian signed and brushed his hair up, standing up straight now, “And that is why I didn’t want to make love to you last night. I knew this would happen!”
“Relax Brian. I know you did not take advantage of me ok? Last night I needed you so badly. I really did want it. I really did want you. But I woke up this morning thinking it was the biggest mistake in the world!” she explained.
“And it wasn’t just this morning. It was last night too just after we finished…having sex.” He added.
Mandy just stared at him.
“I know you were crying like night Mandy. I am not blind. I did see the tears!” he sighed.
“Oh!” Mandy bowed her head down, “Well ok then. I realised then it was a big mistake!”
“Well, thank you very much!” he moaned.
“No I didn’t mean it like that. Oh god, I am just so confused!” she whined.
“Well that makes two of us then!” he moaned.
Mandy frowned and nodded.
“That’s the second time you have slept with me Mandy. Second time!” he huffed.
“I know!” she whispered.
“And both times you have ran away from it!” he added.
Mandy nodded shamefully.
“I need t know. Do you have any feelings for me at all?” he asked.
“Brian, please don’t ask me that!” she sighed.
“Well, I really want to know!” he muttered.
“I still love my husband!” she answered, bowing her head down.
“That still does not answer my question. Do you have any feelings for me at all?” he asked again.
“No!” she whispered, turning around with her back facing him. She didn’t want to see the look of hurt on his face. The look of hurt he was demonstrating.
Brian shoo his head and folded his arms, “I don’t believe you!”
Mandy turned around and looked at him quickly, “Well, you’d better believe it coz it’s true!”
“Nah. You don’t sleep with someone you don’t have feelings for. I know the way a woman’s mind works. Men? Yeah they don’t care who they shag. Women? Well they are a different kettle of fish. They care.” He insisted.
“Brian. My husband’s gay. He has hardly shown any interest in me in the past year. I think I would just about jump into bed with the pope if he showed an ounce of interest in me!” she argued.
“You were begging me for it last night. YOU were begging ME. I did not lead you on in any way. You started it and you begged me to make love to you. You told ME you needed ME!” he moaned.
“I did need you Brian! But I don’t feel that way…about…you!” she sighed.
“I still don’t believe you!” he said, shaking his head.
Mandy sighed and sat back down, “Well believe what ya like! I don’t care!”
Mark walked into the office and went straight towards the kitchen. He placed a hand on the door, when Sam called out to him. He stopped and looked back at her.
“I wouldn’t go in there if I were you!” she smirked.
“Why not?” he asked, with his hands till on the door handle.
“Brian and Mandy are in there having a domestic!” she giggled.
“Oh again?” What is it about now?” he moaned.
“No idea!” she shrugged, “But the air certainly was tense this morning!”
Mark sighed and headed towards the coffee machine, “All I want is a decent mug of coffee for fucks sake!”
Meanwhile, back in the kitchen…
“You’re playing with my feelings Mandy. You know how I feel about you!” he argued.
“And you know how I feel about Nicky!” she argued back.
“Which is why I didn’t want anything to happen last night!” he growled.
“Yet it did!” she smirked.
He quickly looked at her. He was panting angrily. Noticing the smirk on her face, he quickly marched to her and grabbed her wrists, “I am starting to not like you very much you know that?” he grunted.
Mandy just looked at him as her jaw dropped open, “How could you say that?” she gasped.
“You sleep with me twice and both times you insist that there were no feelings involved. Then you act like you enjoy getting what you can out of me, despite my protests!” he yelled.
“If you really didn’t want this to happen, you never would have let it happen Brian!” she growled.
“That’s not true!” he argued.
“Oh isn’t it? Then why didn’t you just leave the room last night?” she challenged him, folding her arms.
“Because I was worried about you!” he answered.
“That’s a load of bollocks and you know it Brian.” She laughed.
“NO it is not. I was genuinely worried about you. You were upset. If I would have known you’d behave like a right slapper, I wouldn’t have bothered at all!” he growled.
Mandy just stared at him. “What did you just call me?” she gasped, walking towards him.
“A slapper!” he repeated with a smirk. Seeing the look on her face, he instantly regretted calling her that. He sighed and shook his head as he looked at the floor with his hands on his hips.
Mandy’s face went red and she slapped him hard across the cheek, “How’s that for a slapper?” she screamed before starting to storm off.
Brian held onto his stinging cheek and turned around watching her every move, “Oh god Mandz. I am so sorry!”
“Leave me alone!” she screamed in tears as she opened the door and stormed out, “Just leave me the fuck alone!”
She ran out and slammed the kitchen door shut. Brian walked out holding onto his cheek and sat at his desk.
Sam looked at him and snorted, “She slapped you?”
Brian frowned and nodded.
“Why?” she questioned, “What happened?”
“I don’t want to talk about it Sam!” he sighed, “All I want is to be left alone so I can get on with my work. I’ll speak to you later ok? Just let me brew!”
